Janggu
Janggu ia an hoursglass shaped drum is used in practically every genre of Korean music. It is portrayed in the ancient murals of Goguryeo kingdom and also in bells at the Buddhist temples of Silla kingdom. It is sometimes called
seyogo, which means slender waist drum. Different sizes are used for diffenent types of music. It is mainly used in instrumental pieces to produce resilient and complex rhythms, and also to accompany folk songs,
pungmul nori, and shaman music.
