Ajaeng
Ajaeng is a horizontal zither that has been used since the Goryeo dynasty. It is played with a bow made of forsythia wood, which produces a raspy sound.
There are two types of ajaeng; jeong-ak ajaeng(7~9 strings) and sanjo ajaeng (8 strings). Jeong-ak ajaeng is bigger and produces thicker and lower sounds, while the sanjo ajaeng produces melancholy tones.
