2010 New Year's Day Family Concert by the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts“Making an Exciting World in the Year of Tiger”

On the first day of the new year, January 1st in the lunar calendar, an exciting performance will be presented by young Korean traditional musicians, including children and youth, to celebrate a hopeful new year. The Modeumbuk Performance by the Korea Youth Traditional Art Group (Sorinuri Art Group) will herald the beginning of the new year through a harmony of the instruments daegeum and taepyeongso, unique compositions, and exciting melodies. A special performance will also be presented by children with exceptional abilities in gugak (Korean traditional music)and dance, and young artists with The National Center for Korean Folk Performing Arts will present the scene "Tiger Coming Down" from Sugungga in Pansori to welcomethe Year of the Tiger in 2010. Beautiful Korean traditional folk songs will be performed a cappella by male singers, and an exciting festive performance by Nabiya, a gugakfusion group band, will give fond memories to all participating families.

  • A Cappella / Korean traditional song performed a cappella: "Roast Chestnuts Taryeong"
  • Contemporary Music / Making an exciting world, "Blue Ocean"
  • New Year's Day Special Event

  • All guests born in the Year of the Tiger will be admitted free of charge.
  • A kite-flying event will be held before the performance, starting at 3 p.m.
  • Traditional kites will be presented to children.
