Jongmyojeryeak, an Intangible Cultural Heritage for humanity to cherish! You are invited to watch a valuable performance, where you can see the entire process at Jongmyo. As the name suggests, the Royal Ritual Music is music performed during the annual ritual for the past kings of the Joseon Dynasty. It is not ordinary ritual music. It has been performed for about 600 years. It will be performed for more than 600 years. The Royal Ritual Music is precious court music. Ritual music was held dear for 500 years during the Joseon Dynasty. That spirit is still alive in the Royal Ritual Music. It has been designated as the first "Valuable Intangible Cultural Asset" by the Korean government, and as a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO. So it is valuable music not only for Koreans but also by people around the world. Formality and decorum were held dear during the Joseon Dynasty. They are included in the Royal Ritual Music and handed down to the present time. For this reason, the Royal Ritual Music is used not only for the sake of the ritual in the shrine but also for the sake of performance on a stage. It enjoys a unique status in the musical world.
